Can you suggest things to do in Cusco for our free day? How is the traffic? Does Cusco have bike lanes if we wanted to bike a half day?
I suggest visiting the Mercado San Pedro for some really colorful photo opportunities and market-mayhem! The market has everything from textiles to produce – be mindful that the butcher’s section can be quite stomach churning if you’re not used to bloody raw meat!
The traffic can be quite hectic in Cusco – the few road rules that do exist are ignored by all and sundry! I really do not recommend cycling in the colonial center, however there are some great day trips available like:
Cusco Ruins – Cusco Ruins by Bike – Horse ride to Cusco Ruins – Rafting Chuqicahuana - Maras – Moray
Canoe Piñi pampa – Cusco Ruins & Countryside Horse riding among others.
