RIO DE JANEIRO – IGUASSU FALLS – BUZIOS
Full Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Rio de Janeiro.
Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Full-day tour of Rio de Janeiro.
Today you will experience a full-day tour of Rio de Janeiro including the Sugar Loaf Mountain, Corcovado, Tijuca Forest and Lunch. We will leave the hotel after breakfast to visit the most famous landmarks of the city where we will see the city’s natural beauty from above. After a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, passengers arrive at the bottom of the Corcovado Hill. We will embark on a comfortable train which will climb the mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer, is located (2,300 Ft above sea level).
The Christ statue was recently elected one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World”. Upon arrival at the top of the Corcovado we will take panoramic elevators and escalators that take us to the foot of the statute. There, we will enjoy a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro, discover why it is called the “Marvelous City”. We make our way down on the same route and towards Rio’s other world famous landmark, the Sugar Loaf Mountain, which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. (B, L)
Day 3 & 4: Rio de Janeiro.
Free days to explore the city or just relax on the city’s world-famous beaches. (B)
Day 5: Fly to Iguassu Falls.
Transfer out to the airport. Arrival in Iguassu Falls. Meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel. (B)
Day 6: Tour of the Brazilian side of the Falls.
Macuco Safari. Today we will take the trail which descends into the canyon offering a panoramic view of the more than 240 falls. Take the glass elevator up the cliff face for an exquisite view from the upper deck. The Iguassu National Park along with its “sister” park in Argentina form the most significant remaining rainforest in the southern cone of South America which along with the waterfalls has been declared a National Heritage Site by UNESCO. Macuco Safari: The trip begins within the National Park on the Brazilian side, where visitors take seats in an open wagon driven through the forest where they can observe birds, animals and exotic vegetation all while accompanied by a specialized guide.
At the end of the 2 km ride we continue on foot to the margin of the Iguassu River to take a specially prepared motor boat for an exciting and unforgettable trip. Passengers are taken as close as possible to the water falls, where they can hear the thunderous roar of the walls of water, and get wet from the mist of the falls. (B)
Day 7: Iguassu Falls.
Argentinean Falls: Cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge en route to the Iguassu National Park in Argentina. At the entrance we will take a short train ride through the park to the trail where the walking tour begins. Visit the upper walkways, which allow for more intimate contact with the falls and the rainforest. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the suspended platform at the very brink of the Devil’s Throat falls. (B)
Day 8: Fly to Rio de Janeiro.
Trasfer to Buzios. Today you will fly to Rio De Janeiro and from there will be transferred to your hotel in Buzios. (B)
Days 9-12: Free Days in Buzios.
Time at your leisure to enjoy the beaches. (B)
Day 13: Transfer from Buzios to Rio de Janeiro International Airport.
Today you will be transferred to Rio de Janeiro Airport to meet your international connections. (B)
